Pretty Woman (1990) Blu-ray Review
2 Min Read
What little girl (or grown girl for that matter) doesn't dream of Prince Charming whisking her away and living happily ever after? Ok, so hopefully not all the little girls will grow up to be hookers, but hey, it worked for Vivian!
Vivian (Julia Roberts) is the proverbial hooker with a heart of gold. You realize instantly that she doesn't really belong in the street-walking lifestyle. But, like most, she is stuck in her way of life, and doesn't seem to have a way out. That is, until Edward Lewis (Richard Gere), pulls up to the corner, asks for directions and changes both of their lives forever.
Sure, initially, both were just expecting the norm - an easy business transaction. However, once the end of the night came, both realized that neither were the people they thought. Edward Lewis offers Vivian a "gig" for the whole week. She accepts, and their love story unfolds. By week's end, Vivian leaves and decides to try and get a better life for herself. She packs up and leaves her roommate, Kit, with money from Edward. After their goodbye's, Vivian gets ready to head out and hears a horn honking outside her window. Lo and behold, its Edward.... riding in on his white "horse" (a limo). He has come to save her and give her the life she wants with her Prince Charming.
Pretty Woman has never looked better than on this high definition Blu-ray version of the film. Aside from the crisp photo realistic image (presented in it's original aspect ratio of 1.85:1), Pretty Woman features a 5.1 uncompressed soundtrack that simply brings the film to life. From Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman song to the thundering hooves of the polo mach, Pretty Woman never sounded better.
Aside from the great film the Blu-ray features a huge amount of extra's including a hilarious blooper reel, a featurette on the making of Pretty Woman, "Wild Women Do" video by Natalie Cole, and the Wrap party in LA for the film
Even almost 20 years later, this film is still a classic. The storyline will always be timeless. Everyone loves a fairytale ending and certainly one starring such wonderful actors and actresses as this one.
