J. K. Rowling personally announced at a fan event, that four sequels to Fantastic Beasts are slated to be in the works, bringing this franchise to a total five (5) movies. Eddie Redmayne will reprise his role as Newt Scamander in the sequel and the future combination between Redmayne and Depp is destined to be absolutely magical.
David Yates, director of the first installment of "Fantastic Beasts" is on board for the Redmayne-Depp sequel. He announced that the sequel will be "very different" from the first movie, which is set in 1926 New York City. Yates also directed the last four Harry Potter movies, so if his direction is only one half of what it was in those movies, the Fantastic Beasts franchise will be a magical success. J.K. Rowling wrote the script for the sequel.
Along with Redmayne, Katherine Waterson, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight star in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, in theaters November 16, 2016. There has been no word on whether these actors will be reprising their roles in a sequel. Despite Rowling scripting the sequel, no published book has been released to continue the story for those avid readers. Dare I suggest that Rowling continue her book releases and grace us with another magical series?
Fantastic Beasts sequel already has a release date of November 18, 2018. Shooting begins next year.
