Sharks are circling as the third chapter of the popular shark thriller series, "47 Meters Down," surfaces at the Cannes market. Series creator Johannes Roberts and screenwriter Ernest Riera team up once more for "47 Meters Down: The Wreck," with horror veteran Patrick Lussier taking the directorial helm. FilmNation, known for its work on the franchise's previous installment, is set to launch global sales at Cannes.

The plot delves into the depths of family bonds as a father and daughter seek reconciliation during a tropical scuba diving expedition exploring a legendary shipwreck. However, their adventure takes a perilous turn when their guide's mishap leaves them stranded amidst the wreck's maze, stalked by hungry great white sharks. With tensions mounting and oxygen running low, the duo must rely on their newfound connection to survive.

Preparations are underway for fall production, including discussions for casting. Byron Allen's Allen Media Group Motion Pictures and Tea Shop Productions, helmed by James Harris and Mark Lane, are driving the project forward. Roberts promises that this installment will be the franchise's most ambitious yet, with James Harris, Mark Lane, and Roberts producing, and a team of executive producers supporting the venture.

While Allen released the franchise's previous entries in the U.S., distribution plans for the third film are yet to be finalized. Despite varying budgets, both preceding films made substantial returns, setting high expectations for "47 Meters Down: The Wreck." Allen anticipates another spine-chilling experience for audiences, echoing Roberts' sentiment that this installment will push the franchise to new heights of intensity.
