Heavy Metal, the 1970s sci-fi fantasy magazine, has once again inspired an animated film that will be developed by Paramount Pictures. Director David Fincher will be in charge of the project, according to Variety.
The film will include several animated segments. Each will have been directed by a different director, including Fincher. Other directors will include Kevin Eastman, co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", and current owner and publisher of Heavy Metal. Tim Miller will be directing a segment and his company, Blur Studios, will handle the animation for the "R" rated adult feature.
The magazine had previously been the inspiration for a 1981 animated film, Heavy Metal as well as a sequel in 2000, Heavy Metal 2000 (Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2)
